The Farol da Barra do Fortim is one of the highest points in the area, working both as a navigation reference for local boats and as a lookout for visitors.
Unlike the lighthouse and lookout in the Pontal de Maceió village, this one sits on the Barra side, closer to where the river meets the sea.
Access is usually on foot from Barra do Fortim's beach stretch — worth asking your guesthouse for the most direct route, since there's no official tourist sign guiding the way.
From up high, you can clearly follow the shape of the Rio Jaguaribe's mouth, the sandbanks exposed at low tide, and the full stretch of Barra's beach — one of the most complete angles for taking in Fortim's geography all at once.
