July overlaps with Brazilian school holidays, which fills up guesthouses and pushes prices up weeks in advance. December and January bring the Brazilian summer, year-end parties and New Year's Eve — traditionally the busiest dates on the local calendar.

March to June: less wind, more rain, fewer crowds

This is the rainiest stretch on Ceará's eastern coast. It doesn't rain all day — usually short bursts in the afternoon or evening — but it's worth planning around.

If you don't kitesurf or wingfoil, this season can actually work in your favor: with less wind, the sea along the open beaches sits calmer, which suits anyone who just wants to float or relax on the sand. It's also when guesthouses tend to lower their rates and the town feels noticeably quieter.

The tide runs Fortim all year round

Whatever month you travel, the clock that actually matters in Fortim is the tide's — not the calendar's. The lagoons at Canto da Barra, the walk to Farol beach and access to the Pontal de Maceió coves only happen at low tide, in any season.
